Marshmallow’s labs are back. We knew the results wouldn’t be good, but they’re worse than we hoped. She’s been in such a good mood, I was hoping maybe the shelter was wrong about her prognosis. The one piece of comfort is that she is not in pain. Under our veterinarian’s guidance, we’re choosing not to pursue further diagnostics or aggressive treatment. at her age, 17 years old, the most likely causes (according to her labs and the vets interpretation) are late-stage liver or kidney disease, or cancer. None of these have a cure for a cat her age, and putting her through chemo or invasive testing would hurt far more than it would help. Her quality of life comes first, always. She is on supportive care, daily SQ fluids, supplements, and prescription food. Every day with Marshie is a blessing. she’s the gentlest foster grandma, the heart of our kitten room, and she takes her “ambassador” role very seriously. HELP NEEDED 💛🐾 We’re really struggling right now. We have 48 cats and kittens (and 4 puppies!) in our care, tiny bottle babies, medical cases, litters upon litters of weaned kittens, the whole mix, and our food shelves are almost empty. They’re around 3 weeks old right now, but in a couple weeks they will be weaning and ready to eat on their own This is our first-ever puppy intake, most of you know us as a cat rescue, but when Miami-Dade Animal Services called asking for help right before closing, we couldn’t say no! If you love puppies but don’t want to commit to adopting one, consider fostering once they’re weaned. Welcome Radar (FKA Polo #A2739687)! 🐾 This adorable 5-month-old flame point Siamese was pulled yesterday from Miami-Dade Animal Services. Radar came in as a TNR/RTF, and staff noticed his eyes don’t dilate normally, he seems to have very limited vision and likely sees only shadows. Radar is already neutered and ear-tipped since he was originally meant to be released, but with his vision limitations, it was decided he would not thrive outdoors and was instead blasted for rescue. We don’t yet know the cause of his vision issues, but he has an upcoming ophthalmology appointment and may also need a neurology consult.
